Your Great Re-Design of 2022

Just like an ultra-marathoner, here we are. We’ve covered a ton of ground, have LOTS to be grateful for, touched many lives with our heart and accomplishments, climbed some big mountains, celebrated milestones, but we are tired.

As we likely sped past Hanukkah and now head into Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year’s, we’ll cherish time with family, give gifts, give love, give time, give money to amazing causes and organizations, and (for my fellow Jewish Limitless Leader subscriber family), make and give lots of food, LOL!

But there is one thing that some of us may need to unapologetically receive, so we can re-design our upcoming year.

Time.

Time to pause.

Time to reflect.

Time to recharge...

Taking Swift Action to Elicit Real Change

In case you missed my LIVE interview with the amazing Denise Reed Lamoreaux (Chief Diversity Officer at ATOS), here are a few of the wisdom gems she shared:

  • Remove those tentative statements by omitting words of doubt such as “I think”, rather say “this is the solution”
  • Be specific in your word choice by saying, “Friday is the deadline”, rather than, “I need it ASAP”
  • Provide people with resources after a meeting to go back to, this helps with retaining information
  • Ask people who don’t think like you to give you feedback, you need this to make improvements
  • If you want to be known as a role model, you have to be bold, take that next step in action
  • Communicate with power. Every time you remain silent, that means that this situation could happen again.

I think it’s safe to say that most of us have found ourselves in this predicament. Clamming up when we know we should speak up. Maybe it’s an awkward situation. Maybe there is a lot at stake. Change for the better will require us all to speak up when our gut and our heart tell us to do so.

A recent survey done by LeanIn and SurveyMonkey polled approximately 7,400 women and men in the workplace. While 80% of those polled considered themselves allies, less than half of the women (most notably women of color) say they have strong allies in the workplace.
