I had the honor of interviewingĀ Natasha Engan, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Deltek, and we discussed leading high-performing teams through disruptive times. She emphasized the importance of controlling what you can, such as work ethic, attitude, and communication. Natasha highlighted the need for transparency, trust, and clear communication to build resilience among employees. She also stressed the significance of listening to customers and maintaining trust through honest feedback. Natasha advised leaders to set a positive tone, empower employees, and balance product launches with customer needs. She concluded by urging mindful communication to inspire and support teams effectively.
Key take-aways from the interview:
Would you believe I recorded this videoĀ message for you BEFOREĀ Noah Lyles won his gold medal and shared this quote on X, following his performance in the menās 100-meter final on Sunday, Aug. 4?
Maybe thatās why I absolutely LOVE what he said:
āI have Asthma, allergies, dyslexia, ADD, anxiety, and Depression. But I will tell you that what you have does not define what you can become. Why Not You!āĀ ~Noah Lyles
As I walked along the beach in Little Compton, RI, I started contemplating success and personal ambition.Ā Ā
We were fortunate enough to be housesitting a spectacular home overlooking the ocean. Rather than think of myself as a visitor, even an imposter, in someone elseās amazing home on 10 acres of land with a private beach, I thought āwhy not meā?
The home, land, and ocean were speaking to me and saying, āStop looking at your feet for the shells, look out into the vast ocean for whatās possible for you.ā
I challenge you with the empowering question, "Why not YOU?"

As we wrap up the month of June, it's important to take a moment to reflect on our journey and celebrate the successes we've achieved, no matter how small they may seem. In times of change and disruption, recognizing our progress helps us stay motivated and focused on our long-term goals.
Why Celebrate Small Successes?
Reflecting on Your Wins
Take some time to reflect on the past month. What goals did you set? What progress did you make? Here are a few ways to reflect on and celebrate your achievements:
In the last 5 years, my husband Scott and I have almost moved on several occasions, but then decided not to at the last minute.
This time was different. I could feel in my bones that it was time to take action and not look back. Our house is now going on the market this month, and Iāve been feeling a lot of emotions following the task of writing a love letter to my home, as requested by my realtor.
It made me realize how grateful and appreciative I am of this home. This home caught us when it was a challenging time for our family, healed us, provided a place for laughter, sometimes tears, birthday parties, dinner parties, and sitting in the hot tub in the backyard at night watching the clouds pass over the stars.
This is the home where I said āyesā to my now husband and where I came up with the idea of how to scale the impact of my company.
For all of those things and many more, I am forever grateful to my home.
Iām excited to be selling our house with the same world-class Compass...

I hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing Thanksgiving break with family and friends.
I'm 100% blown away by how amazing YOU already are!
Hereās what Iām hearing though over and over again from my local and global workshop attendees... as well as those applying for my monthly subscription:
Despite all the amazing things they are doing...Ā āI feelĀ mediocre.ā
I hear you.
Iāve felt that way too.
If we work extra hard, we feel like we areĀ mediocreĀ with our loved ones and friends. If we commit to our family, our career ambitions might slow down. Hereās the worst: We work extra hard at both, and still feel like we are coming up short:(.
I'd like to share three valuable tips to STOP feelingĀ mediocreĀ and get onto feeling (as Jen Sincero of You are a BadassĀ so eloquently puts it) like your badass self at work AND at home.
IsĀ it possible that you have everything it takes to achieve what you yearn for and what, I believe, is already rightfully yours? Maybe the reason why you have not achieved the level of success you want and deserve is because of the limitations you place on yourself.
I know that was the case for me up until three years ago. How could I go from having a thriving yet (very) small private practice to helping thousands? To help the masses refine their clarity and gain the mindset required to reach their potential, to arrive at their Olympics? Who would listen to me and find value in what I had to say at Fortune 500 companies in San Francisco, Silicon Valley and globally? I consider myself as a relatively smart person, but that was sure stupid thinking.
Companies like Google Ventures, Autodesk, CapitalOne, Bank of America, and VMware (to name a few) have listened the last couple of years. Up next, a national podcast tour for my upcoming book,Ā ...

I saw Serena Williams play an exhibition match in Los Angeles when she was only 11 or 12 years old.Ā Looking back, I wonder if she realized that she would be the named best player in the open era and have earned more than 22 Grand Slam titles! Ā Not to mention all of her other unimaginably successful endorsements and businesses. Maybe not down to those exact details, but she did work every day believing her day would come, and believing it was possible.
Itās that unwavering belief in ourselves that allows us to dream big and persevere.
When it comes to our long-term objectives itās important that weĀ āproceed as if success is inevitableāĀ (my favorite quote, BTW), hold on to our dream, and then relinquish control of the outcome. You, like Serena Williams early in her career, have little to no control of the scale of your future success.Ā There are many unknowns:

Fear could save your life. When it comes to high performance in a critical moment though, fear can be problematic if not managed properly. Fear of failure may stand in the way of getting started or encourage you to quit. Fear is also distracting. It can take you from the present moment back to a past failure or into a future irrational thought (i.e. āThis is never going to work outā). Fear is normal in many cases but needs to be managed properly to encourage you to perform your best especially when it matters most. Itās even common for world-class performers to experience fear as well. The difference is they have the (learned) skills to manage their fear and deal with it at a time that is appropriate, not when they need to shine.
Letās take it one step further. Fear ...
