Feeling Firehosed?

Feeling Firehosed?

Feeling like you’re drinking from a firehose? You’re not alone!

If you’d like me to talk you off the ledge:), let's chat privately ASAP.

Keep in mind...

Now that we are deep into Q4, what I’m hearing (now more than ever) is that individuals and teams are feeling overwhelmed, depleted, and losing motivation.

Your or your team’s highest sense of impact and contribution DO NOT live here, and it’s virtually an impossible pace to sustain.

This, of course, has a huge ripple down effect on productivity, profitability as well as talent retention... not to mention on the overall sense of well-being and impact on the family. As you can imagine, this is costly. Upwards of $500 billion dollars of lost revenue a year according to a recent Gallup study.

If you are an ambitious heart-centered leader, we lose even more. We lose your ability to access your highest sense of contribution, your ability to influence up and have the biggest voice...

Take Me Off the Ledge or I Quit!

Take Me Off the Ledge or I Quit

"Talk me off the ledge, or I quit!”

Have you been feeling that way, or is it possible your team is?

Maybe it's the back-to-back-to-back-to-back meetings with little time to do your work (nonetheless time to strategize for the future.) Let’s not even talk about your "me" time to take care of yourself and nourish your soul…

The great resignation is a thing, and let’s make sure you and your team are not part of it.

Unfortunately, it’s not where your (or your team's) greatest creativity, innovative ability, or profitability exist. If you are grinding it out, do you want to keep working this way, and how will it affect your ability to have your greatest impact?

The great news is that there are ways to take some control back and create more time for what matters!

Here’s a great place to start which is taken from Greg McKeown’s book, Essentialism...

He mentions a "Zero-Based Budgeting Approach." It’s similar to when...

Podcast Episode #97: "Taking Swift Action to Elicit Real Change" - an Interview with Denise Reed Lamoreaux

Taking Swift Action to Elicit Real Change

In case you missed my LIVE interview with the amazing Denise Reed Lamoreaux (Chief Diversity Officer at ATOS), here are a few of the wisdom gems she shared:

  • Remove those tentative statements by omitting words of doubt such as “I think”, rather say “this is the solution”
  • Be specific in your word choice by saying, “Friday is the deadline”, rather than, “I need it ASAP”
  • Provide people with resources after a meeting to go back to, this helps with retaining information
  • Ask people who don’t think like you to give you feedback, you need this to make improvements
  • If you want to be known as a role model, you have to be bold, take that next step in action
  • Communicate with power. Every time you remain silent, that means that this situation could happen again.

3 Ways to Speak Up When You Know You Should

be heard speak up Sep 01, 2021

Ways to Speak Up When You Know You Should

I think it’s safe to say that most of us have found ourselves in this predicament. Clamming up when we know we should speak up. Maybe it’s an awkward situation. Maybe there is a lot at stake. Maybe it’s just easier not to say anything. Whether it’s in our living room or in the boardroom, your voice needs to be heard. Change for the better will require us all to speak up when our gut and our heart tell us to do so.

Easier said than done, right?

Yep, and we’re not alone.

A recent survey done by LeanIn and SurveyMonkey polled approximately 7,400 women and men in the workplace. While 80% of those polled considered themselves allies, less than half of the women (most notably women of color) say they have strong allies in the workplace.

Also, consider that it can be extremely difficult to ‘influence up’. In other words, share your perspective with senior leadership especially when there is a...

Lacking Control of Your Schedule and Productivity?

Lacking Control of Your Schedule and Productivity?

Have you ever had a day where you had so many meetings that there was no time to strategize or do YOUR work (not to mention fit in a morning routine)? If you feel like you’re lacking control of your schedule and productivity, that can be frustrating and exhausting. If this sounds familiar, I hear this about 10 times a week in private and confidential sessions, in group trainings and in chat rolls that are lit up with these types of comments, so you’re most definitely not alone!

We need to pause that right now.

Why?

According to Passport Health, a corporate wellness company, if this is not addressed, there can be physical and psychological health consequences as well as serious and deleterious effects on profitability. The ripple effect of this can be staggering for a region or an entire company.

When it comes to YOU, you’re needed now more than ever. Your expertise, your passion and compassion, your...

Are You Feeling a Little Out of Control? Try This...

Are you controlling your day, or is your day controlling you?

World-class performers have one essential habit to get through busy and challenging days... even those days when the sh%@t hits the fan and all hell seems to break loose. Developing clear boundaries will help you take control of your days, so you can make consistent and measurable progress.

Think about it…

  • What do you NEED to be your best self throughout the day?
  • What MUST you accomplish?
  • HOW do you protect the time to make it happen?

Here are 3 tips:

  1. Plan out what boundaries you need to set in order to make your day a success
  2. Commit and don’t feel bad about it

Feeling in control can help you be more relaxed, calm, and happy. Each day will certainly be more rewarding if you truly value and honor what is important to you.

If you’re a female leader and would like to...

Need a Q3 Pause & Plan?

Need a Q3 Pause & Plan?

Do you ever use July as a time to pause, plan and possibly make a course correction for the remainder of the year?

Is it that time?

These are great to do every year to make sure you’re running in the right direction, running towards what matters most, and running in a way that you can sustain.

It’s a great time to take an honest inventory of how the year has gone up to this point and giving deep thought to how you’d like it to finish. It’s a time to reflect and celebrate the ‘wins’ as well as a time to shine a light on where to be more bold, more courageous, and where to step up and serve at an even higher level.

It’s also a time to reflect on excuses and stories that are no longer of service, boundaries needed and the consistent action to take to make 2H 2021 the best possible.

Whenever we are looking to shift or move to the next level (promotion, board seat, shifting direction in a role, shifting out...

Time for a Mid-Year Course Correction?

If you feel like you’re spinning, not in control of your days, your voice is not being heard, or you’re just not making the progress you want and deserve, we need to chat.

Your voice, contribution and leadership matter, a lot. In order for you to get the projects, promotions, recognition and respect you want and deserve, AND in a sustainable way, we’ll need to take a pause. Here is step #1 which are a few questions to ponder for a mid-year course correction, so you can finish the year strong, and happy.

Warning! These may not be easy.

Step #1: Gain Clarity

  • Am I in the right role, or do I need to make an exit plan?
  • Do I feel heard, valued and respected?
  • What would an ideal work day look like for me?
  • What’s one big (or small:) ask to make this happen?
  • What’s a micro-step I can take to make this happen?

You are a gift.

A leader whose authentic, confident and compassionate voice needs to be heard, valued and...
