Remarkable Tactics to Make This YOUR Breakout Year

(Scroll to the bottom to view the video.)

In this week's Facebook Live video we talked about the importance of dreaming big.

Consider the following, and start thinking about YOUR big dream:

  • In 1976, Steve Wozniak shared with Hewlett Packard (his employer at the time) the idea of creating a personal computer. He was rejected. So he and his friend Steve Jobs got to work themselves on their dream of individual creativity for each user
  • Martin Luther King had a dream that someday there would be equality for all.
  • When Michael Phelps was 7 years old, he had a dream that there were no limits on what he could achieve.

Is there anything big or small that you dream of doing? Maybe a trip, running a half marathon, a career change? The books Peak and Talent Is OverratedĀ are just two (but impactful) books that have proven over and over that you are only limited by what you think is possible. So start dreaming big!

Why is this SO important?

Believe It and Become It.

When we believe somet...

One World-Class Tool to Crush Negative Thoughts and Excuses

(Scroll to the bottom to view the video.)

Negative self-talk crushes confidence. Period.

One rabbit hole you don’t want to go down if you have an ambition that’s important to you.

If you want to crush negative thoughts AND excuses and then get busy with progress, here’s what you need to start practicing today: positive re-framing.

What is it?

A way of acknowledging the struggle you're having and then use it to your advantage.

How does it work?

It activates your RAS or your reticular activating system which is a part of your brain that controls and serves as a filter of sorts that only lets the important information through. Thinking about buying a certain type of new car and then that’s all you see on the road? That’s your RAS filtering out all the other cars that don’t matter to you.

Why is this important?

If you over emphasize negative thoughts and make excuses, that is what your RAS will think is important. Guess what? Negative thoughts will compound as will your excuses.

Learn How to Be More Purposeful (3 World-Class Tips)

(Scroll to the bottom to view the video.)

Whether you consider yourself a world-class performer or not, you have a lot in common with those among the elite either professionally, academically or athletically. You may sometimes fall off your purpose or lose it entirely. ā€˜Is this really what I am meant to do in the long-term?’ ā€˜What is my purpose or the best way for me to make progress today?’ ā€˜I need to switch gears, so how do find my (new) purpose?’ Athletes retire or get injured, senior leaders switch careers, academics change fields of interest, so they are not immune either! Lacking clarity on purpose can feel like the middle place, and it doesn’t tend to be too comfortable (at least not in my experience). Partly because we are not making progress towards something where we are making an impact for ourselves and/or for others.

The good news is that we can learn from what world-class performers do a little differently to be more purposeful, so we can move towards being world-class a...

Three Tips to Gain World-Class Clarity in 2018

(Scroll to the bottom to view the video.)

If you are like me, you are getting bombarded with content on how to make 2018 amazing, and most of it is GREAT!

But, there’s just one problem.

To truly make 2018 amazing, we need to gain clarity on what’s important to us, and then have the mindset to make clear and measurable progress.

Whoa! That sounds like a lot, so where should we start?

Well that part is easy!

Gaining world-class clarity on what’s most important to us is the vital first step. Your ship needs to know where to sail, or you won’t get far. You will also get pretty worn out in the process and possibly give up. We don’t want that!

Let’s take the first step to your best year ever, together.Ā  Here are 3 tips:

  1. Choose family/relationships, career, wellness… What is one area that is incredibly important to you where you didn’t quite pull off your best last year?
  2. Believe what you desire is possible. Yep, it’s proven in science that we believe what we consistently tell ourse

How To Develop the Confidence to Live Your Purpose

Do you ever feel purposeless?

We know finding clarity and purpose is difficult, so we’re approaching it from a different angle today: how you can develop the courageous mindset you need to develop purpose, because we believe that anyone can have world-class purpose.

I was recently interviewed by Geoff Woods, Vice President of The ONE Thing podcast and wanted to take a minute to personally share it with you.

In this episode you will learn...

  • What creates the gap between high achievers and everyone else.
  • How you can use positive affirmation to develop a more purposeful mindset.
  • Why you need to practice being purposeful (and how to practice deliberately).
  • Why you need to align yourself with an expert and put an accountability structure in place.
  • How you can commit to progress (instead of perfection).

Want to Think2Win? Here's How to Start...

(Scroll to the bottom to view the video.)

Thanks for watching theĀ last video on How to "Level-Up.ā€

I honor you/your team's desire to learn how to be world-class especially in moments that matter most to you.

I’d like to share something with you that many people do not know.

You are talented enough to be amazing at whatever is important to you. You see, it’s proven in science that it’s NOT talent that makes people great (Talent is Overrated, Geoff Colvin). It's your mindset and focused practice that will move the needle.

You will have an opportunity to learn HOW to practice as well as the mindset required to be your best. Guess what? This will not only affect you. It will affect those you serve as a role model for AND those you influence.

I know how you might feel. ā€œI am not training for a national athletic eventā€ or ā€œI am not on my way to be in the top 1% of any endeavor.ā€

Here’s the thing. We tend to be happier when we are doing our best. Whatever you have coming up or whatever...

My Gift to You: A Secret Tool How to Show Up and Deliver

(Scroll to the bottom to view the video.)

Have you taken the Mental Toughness Quiz? If not, NOW would be a great time. This is just a quick snapshot to see where you are in a couple key areas of Mental Toughness.

Ā

If you've already taken the quiz, I honor you for investing time to learn about your mindset in certain situations.

Either way, I have a quick question!Ā Have you ever prepared relentlessly for a competitive event, a presentation or even an important conversation only to show up and NOT deliver?

As a student, young athlete and working professional, I had more than a few memorable struggles of my own, and I don’t wish the frustration and disappointment on anyone. This is why I’ve spent the last two decades studying, researching and working with world-class performers, so YOU don’t have to experience what I did.Ā It’s also why it is SO important for me to share this outstanding worksheet that I normally reserve for my 1:1 and group students!

I know you work hard, andĀ you d...

From ā€œNo Talentā€ to 2X Olympian & Gold Medalist ... A Conversation with Leroy Dixon

PhotoĀ Source: www.imageofsport.com

(Scroll to the bottom to view the video.)

What’s one thing we all have in common with world-class performers?

We all experience fear and doubt. These are two emotions that are felt at every level of performance, from novice to world-class. Striving for the next level and performing in moments that matter is scary, for everyone. There are also a couple fundamental differences that separates the best from the rest.

I was fortunate enough to interview Leroy Dixon recently, and he shared two of the most important factors that helped him go from ā€œno talentā€ to 2X Olympian, gold medalist and (did I mention?) the 7th fastest man ever recorded in his event. Yes, Mr. Dixon has beaten Usain Bolt in his career as well. Maybe we are not going to be Olympians, but we CAN be world-class at what’s important to us. As a matter of fact, I believe we MUST. The army of do-gooders must prevail, so the time for us to level up is now.

Here are the two tips from Leroy ...
