The Impact of Digital Storytelling in Tech

Gail Mercer-MacKay is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of The Women in Technology Network. In this interview, Gail and Sheryl talk about her transformation from making “fear-based decisions” to next-leveling her life and making an impact.

Additionally, Gail launched a new planning/preparation software app in the Microsoft Cloud that empowers the 3,000+ Microsoft Partners to build amazing submissions (digital storytelling) to win a Microsoft Partner of the Year Award. If you’re a woman in business and are thinking “I’d like to grow my business and take advantage of technology… I am wondering if I can build something in the cloud but don’t know where to start.”

The Microsoft Partner Program is the place to go because it’s much simpler these days to take process, IP and thought leadership and turn it into an application. Gail launched her new app from start to finish in just 8 weeks. It’s perfect especially for women without a lot of technical knowledge or capital.

1. Women entrepreneurs absolutely can build a business in the cloud
2. Most important are: 1.) Recurring customers/revenue 2.) Employees, not contractors 3.) A sales team 4.) IP/software
3. What you can do to get started: 1.) Volunteer 2.) Write goals down 3.) Put future company on a PowerPoint so you can present as if it's already happened 4.) Work today as if the future has already happened (now we are speaking the same language!)
